Enlace Latino NC seeks a Sponsorship Coordinator to join our North Carolina-based Spanish news organization serving the state’s Latino immigrant community. As we enter our 6th year in operation and become an independent 501(c)(3) organization, we are at a critical stage of growth that requires an ambitious leader with a history of developing and implementing successful sponsorship strategies.
Our public service journalism won +12 awards for filling a critical informational void, rigorously identifying formats that meet our audience where they’re at, and setting a precedent for how local news can best serve Spanish-speaking immigrants. In 2022, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists named Enlace Latino NC the best Spanish digital news site in the U.S.
In this next phase of our organization, we focus on fine-tuning administrative and business-side operations and re-writing strategies. It is in this context that we seek a Sponsorship Coordinator to join our small but growing team to create a strategy plan that combines a corporate partnership and supporter levels within the sponsorship packages, bringing the story of Enlace’s journalism to life for key and potential stakeholders, and help us get big ideas to fruition by supporting the growth of our revenue streams.
About this position
Essential Duties
This role is crucial for establishing and maintaining partnerships that support ELNC’s mission. The Coordinator will play a pivotal role in securing funding, fostering relationships, and ensuring the success of the corporate sponsorship program.
- Cultivate Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate partners, understanding their needs, goals, and expectations to tailor sponsorship opportunities accordingly. Build a strong working relationship with ELNC team personnel, volunteers, and community members.
- Develop high-quality, successful event sponsorship models and strategies: Design and execute a comprehensive sponsorship strategy to attract corporate partners who are aligned with ELNC’s mission and values.
- Event Sponsorship Management: Oversee all aspects of event sponsorship, including coordination, logistics, and ensuring sponsor satisfaction. Ensure that event sponsorship products are consistent with our scheduled events and maximize sponsorship opportunities and community partnerships.
- Identify Prospective Partners: Research and identify potential corporate sponsors based on their industry, values, and alignment with the non-profit’s objectives.
- Cultivate Relationships: Identify prospective partners. Build and maintain long-term solid fundraising relationships with corporate partners, understanding their needs, goals, and expectations to tailor sponsorship opportunities accordingly.
Create, develop, and execute sponsor contracts specific to each donor, including respective sponsor benefits outlined in sponsorship agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial terms aligned with organizational goals. Manage contract execution and renewal processes. - Budget Management: Manage the sponsorship budget effectively, optimizing resources to maximize sponsorship revenue and return on investment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with both departments (editorial/ leadership), including marketing, communications, and program teams, to integrate sponsorship initiatives and effectively leverage organizational resources.
- Grant Proposals and Funding Opportunities: Identify and pursue grant opportunities from corporations and foundations that offer sponsorship or partnership opportunities, collaborating with the development team to submit compelling proposals.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to identify trends in corporate philanthropy, emerging sponsorship opportunities, and best practices, sharing insights with the development team to inform strategic decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Projects: Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives involving the development team, marketing, communications, and other departments to leverage collective expertise and resources to support organizational goals.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Strong preference for Bilingual (Spanish-English) and Bicultural candidates
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in immigrant-serving independent media and/or non-profit and grassroots organizations is a plus
- Familiarity with North Carolina’s philanthropic ecosystem is a plus

You’re an ideal candidate focusing on specific projects and events throughout the year and securing sustaining funds. All income generation is conducted in line with our Ethical Policy. The sponsorship coordinator must possess strong sales and public relations skills. The coordinator must have excellent oral and written communication skills. This position also requires exceptional organization and follow-through skills. In addition, the Sponsorship Coordinator must maintain confidential information, be politically astute, and demonstrate a strong professional demeanor. The sponsorship coordinator will be responsible for achieving goals set by Enlace Latino NC’s board through various fundraising mediums, including corporate giving, local business donations, and in-kind contributions.

Compensation & Values
The Sponsorship Coordinator position is part-time and pays $47,000- $50,000. For the first six months, it is a contract position. Afterward, it will transition to full-time and become part of the Enlace Latino NC staff, with the complete benefits package that ELNC offers to its full-time employees.

Location
Enlace Latino NC is based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Sponsorship Coordinator position is remote. The candidate should be able to travel to Raleigh at least three times per week and as needed. We invite candidates based in North Carolina (particularly the Triangle Region) to apply.
