If you decide to make the appointment online, once on the website that is available only in Spanish, you must complete five steps:

  2. When you go to the next page, you must complete the spaces with: Telephone, first name, last name, email, confirm email. Finally, choose the option to send you reminders via text message or email.
  3. The system then asks if the information is correct, which gives you the opportunity to review the personal data provided and the appointment data. At the bottom of the page, click on a blue bar to schedule the appointment.

Requirements to process a driver's license in North Carolina

The requirements to acquire a driver's license at the NCDMV vary depending on the procedure.

  1. For the first time:
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Adolescents between 15 and 17 years old can apply for a limited learner permit as part of the process to graduate as a driver.

Required documents

  • US passport unexpired
  • Unexpired foreign passport from any country
  • Driver's license or identification card from another state that operates with REAL ID.
  • Vehicle driver record
  • School Documents: GED Diploma from an NC School, Community College or University
  • NC limited driving privilege, issued by a state court, and cannot have expired for more than one year
  • US Government Documents These can be:-Unexpired documents issued by DHS or USCIS
    -Expired immigration documents may be valid, if accompanied by a letter from USCIS extending the date
  • Court documents:
    -Official divorce decree
    -Court order to change name or gender
    -Adoption papers
    -Certificate from the court for child support
  1. Social Security Card, or a document that provides the social Security number: Form 1099 for tax return, Form W-2 with name and social security number, salary payment record with full name and social security number, Medicaid card or Medicare that shows this number.
  2. A document that provides the physical address in North Carolina
  3. For foreigners, a document that provides the full name and legal presence in the country: unexpired permanent residence, unexpired employment authorization, unexpired foreign passport, naturalization certificate, immigrant visa, among others.

Real id  on your driver's license

The DMV gives the option to people who are going to get their driver's license for the first time, renew it or duplicate it, to add the “improvement” of the NC REAL ID, which is displayed with a gold star in the upper right part of the license. card.
