What you need to know to register your vehicle in North Carolina.

Documents required to register your vehicle in North Carolina

Identification proof:  What is your driver's license issued by the state In North Carolina, if you do not already have a valid state-issued driver's license, you may present your current license with the Temporary Driving Certificate (TDC) North Carolina.

Proof of liability insurance:  You must demonstrate that your purchased insurance covers $30.000 for bodily injuries to one person, $60.000 for injuries to more than two people, and $25.000 for property damage.

Vehicle Title:  It is the document that confirms the ownership of the car. It must be signed and notarized for it to be legally valid.

Eligible Risk Declaration Form:  This document is provided by the DMV and must be delivered at the time of the procedure.

How much does it cost to register a vehicle in North Carolina? 

Depending on the county where you are registering your car, additional expenses could be incurred, but in most cases the following dollar values ​​are the most common to consider:

  • Certificate of title: $56
  • Instant title: $105.75
  • Plate fee: $38.75
  • Road use tax: 3% of the total registration cost.
