How to make an appointment at Mexican Consulates in the US via WhatsApp

To start using this service, just save the number +1 (424) 309-0009 in your contact book and write “Hello”.

Then, you will start a conversation with the virtual assistant and follow the steps to schedule the appointment to process or renew the passport and/or consular registration.

With this new option on WhatsApp, citizens will have three different options to make an appointment and obtain their passport and/or consular registration.

The SRE highlighted that the service offers multiple advantages, including a more agile, simple service and the possibility of obtaining a passport appointment directly from the user's cell phone in a few minutes.

“All data sent must be written data only”

The Mexican government office highlighted that it will not be necessary to send images, photographs or other additional information to that requested through the virtual assistant.

All data sent should be written data only, the SRE recommended.

The chatbot will send a privacy notice, which should be read carefully.

It should be remembered that WhatsApp does not proactively contact users to request data or confirm it.

Verified account

This new chatbot displays a green check mark on the contact name, identifying it as a verified, trustworthy, and secure account for official interactions.

Once the consular appointment has been scheduled through WhatsApp, the user will receive confirmation in a few minutes.

This includes the day, time, three QR codes, which include the user's CURP, link to the office location where the appointment was requested. You will also receive a link to consult the necessary requirements to carry out the process of obtaining or renewing a passport.

Current options, portal and telephone number

It is important to note that the other two options can still be used to appointment requests:

  1. Web portal
  2. Phone number

"Now there will be an additional one," the SRE indicated.
