Appointments at Mexican Consulates step by step
Mexicans who require some consular service in the United States have 3 options to request an appointment: by telephone, online and through WhatsApp, which is the option that, starting in the month of xxx, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico offers available to their compatriots.
These steps are useful for any of the Consulates that the Government of Mexico has in the United States, including the Mexican Consulate in Raleigh.
Request a consular appointment online
The first requirement to be able to request an appointment through the MyConsulate website is create an account.
Via the internet, the steps to follow are as follows:
- Enter the website of MyConsulate, formerly Mexitel
- Once you enter, you will find two options:
-Log in
-Create an account - Select create an account and follow the steps indicated. You will need to provide a personal email address.
The information they will ask you for is:
- Name
- Surname
- second surname
- two contact telephone numbers (the second is optional)
An email will also be requested, It is very important that you write it correctly since at that address they will send you your confirmation email to activate the account and also to confirm your consular appointment.

4. In the “Procedures for” option, you must select “Consular Offices”.
5. Afterwards, you must create a password and you will need to confirm it. The recommendation is that said word has uppercase and lowercase letters, signs and numbers. The ideal is for it to be easy to remember, but at the same time secure.
6. Once you've completed this step, click 'Accept.' A confirmation box will immediately appear, which you should click 'Accept.'
At that point, the message "Registration successful" should appear. The interested party can immediately access their email to activate their account.
7. Once in your email, you'll see the information sent by MiConsulado titled: 'SRE Appointment Notification.' There, you'll need to click the link to activate your account.
8. The previous step will take you to the "Activation successful" message, allowing you to log in and schedule an appointment. There, you'll need to click "Go to start."
Appointments at the Mexican Consulate in Raleigh
Mexicans in the United States who want to schedule an appointment at the Consulate General of Mexico in Raleigh have two options to do so: online and by phone.
Schedule the appointment online
Once you have created your account following the steps mentioned above, the Mexican who needs to request an appointment at the consulate must follow these steps:
- Enter the website MyConsulate https://citas.sre.gob.mx/
- Enter the email and the chosen password, click enter.
- In the field to schedule the appointment select country: United States and write the zip code where you are located.
- There will appear as an option the consulate of raleigh , select.
- Enter your CURP, if you don't have it here we tell you how to download it online.
- Complete the data and select the procedure you need.
- The system will again ask for your first and last name, date of birth, gender, and phone number. Then, you'll need to click the "I'm not a robot" option.
- A random image will appear and you will have to follow the instructions according to said image.
- Haga Click on 'Find appointments' ', which will open the appointment calendar. The current month will appear, along with a traffic light indicating availability (Options: No availability, Low availability, High availability, Full availability).
- There you must choose the day and time for your appointment in which you want to go to carry out your consular procedure . A box will be displayed in which the interested party can verify if all the data is correct.
- If everything is correct, just click "Accept." The appointment form will then appear (it's important to write this down) and the option to print the receipt.
Important: It is not essential to print the receipt since the system will automatically send the confirmation to your email.
The entire process described above will take you around eight minutes.

Schedule an appointment by phone
The other option to schedule an appointment at the Consulate is by telephone to the new MyConsulate number (1 -424) 309-0009 -formerly Mexitel (1-877-639-4835).
"It is simple. The call is made while waiting for an operator to answer and schedule the appointment. They ask for basic information, such as where you are located with your address, your zip code, and what procedures you are going to carry out,” explained Consul Solís.
“Then they will offer you a portfolio of options with the closest places and other information,” he added.
Mexican Consulate recognizes problems
In an interview with Enlace Latino NC , the consul responsible for media, Óscar Solís, acknowledged that there are some difficulties in the process of obtaining an appointment at the Mexican consulate.
The first thing Solís emphasizes is that appointments are scheduled exclusively through Mexitel, and not at the Mexican Consulate as one might believe.
In Mexitel, there are two options, via telephone by calling 1-877-639-4835 or through your page.
“We have a serious problem because it is a company (Mexitel) that receives appointments from the 50 consulates that Mexico has in the United States, and from all the services we offer,” explained Solís.
“Mexitel has many problems due to the influx, the lines are saturated, the system is overwhelmed. In such a way that people still have many difficulties in scheduling an appointment, we recognize it,” added the official. At the same time, Solís reported that the authorities in charge are making the necessary efforts to improve equipment and expand capacity.

At the point where you need to create an account – CURP, the Nationality drop down does not include Mexico, If I am a Mexican residing in the US, my nationality is still Mexico.
