If you are going to carry out a procedure in the offices or self service kiosks from the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV), you should be aware that fees for procedures and services have increased by about 20%.
With the increase in rates that came into effect as of July 1, 2024, people who process the driver's license, driver's licenses, and any other process at the NCDMV, will have to pay more due to the increased cost of procedures and the collection of fees for making payments with a credit or debit card.
Under state law, the DMV must adjust rates and fees every four years, based on the percentage change in the annual Consumer Price Index.
On the same date, the state began issuing a New Driver's License in North Carolina, with more security measures, in order to prevent falsification.

The new price increase was set at 19.18% for around 90 fees related to driver's licenses and registrations.
