Enlace Latino NC, North Carolina’s first statewide nonprofit newsroom serving Hispanic and Latino communities, is seeking a director of development to help take our organization’s fundraising efforts to the next level and expand our newsroom at a pivotal time.
For communities across North Carolina, access to news in Spanish isn’t just about staying informed – it’s a pathway to opportunity, a source of connection, and a way to ensure every voice in our community is heard.
Since 2018, our newsroom has been delivering vital news and resources, empowering individuals and families to make informed decisions that protect their loved ones, strengthen their neighborhoods, and shape the future of our community. From farmworkers’ rights and affordable health care to recovery from natural disasters and the impact of state and federal policies, our coverage tackles the stories that matter most.
Over the past three years, we’ve significantly grown our team, expanded our reach, and deepened our coverage. Now we are setting our sights on sharpening our editorial and organizational strategies in order to shape the future of Spanish news in North Carolina.
We’ve received support from major national funders, including the American Journalism Project and the MacArthur Foundation, and from the North Carolina Local News Fund, among others. We’re looking for an experienced development leader to help us diversify and grow major donor and institutional support, build systems for long-term success, and amplify the story of Enlace Latino NC’s impact to existing and prospective stakeholders.
This is a role for a builder—someone energized by the opportunity to work in a startup environment while thinking big. It’s also a role for a storyteller who can inspire funders, partners, and the community by effectively and creatively sharing our mission. Together, we can chart the course for our next growth phase and equip North Carolina’s Latino communities with quality journalism during this critical time in our history.
We’re seeking someone passionate about local news and North Carolina, with a strong background in institutional fundraising and major gifts, who shares our commitment to advocating for underrepresented communities, and who is excited about acting as a strategic partner with organization leadership. If you’re a strategic thinker passionate about creating equitable access to information, and you’re ready to play a pivotal role in advancing Enlace Latino NC’s mission, we want to hear from you.

- Manage our small dollar membership program, including 2-3 campaigns per year, including the annual NewsMatch campaign
- Write and send communication materials and collateral that update our audience, donors and funders on Enlace Latino NC’s work and impact
- Present clear, cogent reports and analyses to senior management and the Board of Directors on projected revenue vs. actuals
