North Carolina, Charlotte – The person in charge of Consular Affairs of the Honduran government, Víctor Ferrari, called on Hondurans abroad to sign up to have the new Honduran DNI.
Ferrari explained that without the National Identification Document (DNI), compatriots cannot carry out many procedures at the consulate and also in Honduras.
“Just by enrolling, this generates a photographic registry. Your data is now digital and you enter the government database. This way you can manage your different consular procedures, even if you do not yet have your DNI, which is printed in Honduras; and it takes between a month and a month and a half to arrive,” commented Ferrari.
DNI production and delivery center
The official announced that, by the end of 2022, the government approved the budget to have an issuance center to deliver the DNI in the United States.
“As we advance, they will be able to have their ID in three or four days at most, so they will be fully identified,” he stated.

During 2021 and 2022, 5.5 million Honduran men and women enrolled in the DNI .
The Honduran DNI won the 2021 "Identity Document of the Year" award from Renaissance International, recognizing innovation and security in documents and currencies worldwide.

Consul Enrique Flores said that, on the consular appointment platform, there are 118 daily appointments as determined by the Foreign Ministry. He also said that around 55 more Hondurans who are on the waiting list are being treated.
He also told Enlace Latino NC , that in two weeks of working overtime since they moved to the new consular headquarters, 200 data recapture passports have been delivered, and that they expected to have 1,000 backlogged passports printed that day.
