If you studied in the United States and returned to Mexico you can revalidate your studies regardless of the level you are taking.

In this article we tell you the steps you must follow to revalidate your studies done in the United States in Mexico.

Revalidate studies of Basic education (Elementary School and Middle School) 

If a minor wants to resume their basic education studies, they must go to the school where they wish to continue their studies for immediate integration of the student and must follow the following steps:

  1. Present a document that proves the identity of the student, it can be the birth certificate, passport or consular document.
  2. Bring academic documents such as a certificate of education or transcript of completed studies, especially for the last grade completed. These must be accompanied by a free translation.
  3. If you do not have these documents, you must fill out a form provided by the school you wish to enroll in.

Revalidate Primary or Secondary studies

  1. Submit the revalidation application provided by the competent educational authority. You can check the corresponding application for your state at the General Directorate of Accreditation, Incorporation, and Revalidation (DGAIR) at: www.dgair.sep.gob.mx
  2. Present a document that verifies the student's identity, it can be a birth certificate, passport or consular document.
  3. You must show academic documents that prove your studies, especially the most recent degree completed in the United States. These must be accompanied by a free translation.
  4. Submit proof of payment of fees corresponding to the procedure to be carried out.
  5. The educational authority must respond to the request within 15 business days.

Higher studies or High School 

If you resume your high school studies you must:

  1. Submit your application to the institution where you wish to continue studying.
  2. Present a document that proves the student's identity, such as a birth certificate, passport, or consular document.
  3. Bring academic documents such as a certificate of education or transcript of completed studies, especially for the highest grade completed. These must be accompanied by a free translation.

In case of revalidating your full baccalaureate studies you must: 

  1. Submit your revalidation application to the competent educational authority, indicating the educational level to be revalidated and, if necessary, the corresponding area of knowledge.
  2. You must present a document that proves the student's identity; this could be a birth certificate, passport, or consular document.
  3. Submit academic documents proving that you completed 12th grade abroad or the equivalent of high school according to the correspondence tables, accompanied by a free translation.
  4. Submit proof of payment of fees corresponding to the procedure to be carried out. e5cinco format. 

If you completed the General Educational Development Test (GED)

  1. Submit your revalidation application to the competent educational authority.
  2. You must present a document that proves the student's identity; this could be a birth certificate, passport, or consular document.
  3. Present the GED certificate.
  4. Submit proof of payment of fees corresponding to the procedure to be performed. Form e5cinco.
