North Carolina, Raleigh-  In the state of California there are 10 Mexican consulates where you can carry out various consular procedures such as the passport, the third generation consular registration, the voting credential (INE) and issue birth certificates, including name change due to gender identity. 

To be seen at one of the consulates that the Government of Mexico has in California, it is necessary to make an appointment by phone 1-424-309-0009 .

Consulate on wheels

If none of these 10 consular offices in California are close to you to carry out your procedure, the Mexican Foreign Ministry offers Consulates on Wheels. These consulates are mobile offices that carry the consular services that are regularly offered in the Mexican consulate offices to different points.

Consular procedures that you can carry out

Remember: These are some of the procedures you can carry out at the Mexican consulates that provide service in California.

  1. Mexican Passport: issuance and renewal
  2. Mexican Birth Certificate
  3. Third Generation Mexican Consular Registration
  4. Voting Credential from the National Electoral Institute
  5. Marriage registration
  6. Birth Registration and Death Registration

Steps to request an appointment for the Mexican Consulate

These are the steps you must follow to request your appointment at any of the Mexican consulates in California.

The information is also valid to request at the rest of the Mexican Consulates in the United States.

  1. Schedule an appointment online 


    You can order it online through the appointment system. My Consulate  by entering the page www.citas.sre.com.mx. There you must select Consular Offices. 

  2. Create an account 


    Where says Paperwork  select option Consular Offices . Then select the Country In this case "United States of America".  Fill in the remaining details and click Register .

  3. Login with your account  


    Once registration is complete you will receive an email to the address you provided. They will ask you to validate the registration and it will take you back to the site My Consulate  where you can log in with your username and password. Appointments through the website can be made 24 hours a day.

  4. Schedule an appointment by phone 


    You can also make an appointment at the consulate by phone.
    From the United States calling 1-424-309-0009 .
    This number will assist you from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, Eastern time. On weekends from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm

  1. I am very disappointed in my consulate because I cannot believe that every day of the year they do not have appointments for dual nationality. I have been in charge of it for more than a year and there are never appointments, it is a decision

  2. Like Ana and hundreds of people who think that the Mexican consulate is there to support us, the truth is that it is quite the opposite. I have been trying for months to schedule an appointment to process a notarized letter but there are never any appointments. Could it be that the consulate is there to support us Mexicans?
