What is tubing?

El tubing It is a recreational activity that consists of floating and moving through the water using an inflatable tube, generally in rivers or lakes.

It is a popular way to enjoy the natural surroundings, cool off on hot days and spend a relaxing or adventurous time on the water.

Remember that your safety is the most important thing: learn how to swim safely in a river.

Can I bring my own tube?

Yes, you can bring your own tube when tubing, but you should make sure it is suitable for the type of river and water conditions where you will be using it.

A suitable tube should be durable, able to resist abrasions and punctures, and should have enough buoyancy to support your weight.

Additionally, it is important that, even if you bring your own tube, you follow local safety recommendations and access the river at permitted points.

Many places also offer services such as transportation back to the starting point, which can be convenient if you decide to bring your own equipment.

Recommendations  to go tubing

If you're going tubing on any of Western North Carolina's rivers—or anywhere else—consider the following points to stay safe.

To know how to swim

Although tubing is usually not dangerous, it is done in rivers that may have currents, rocks, and other natural features.

Knowing how to swim significantly increases safety in case you get out of the tube.

Choosing suitable sections of the river

It is crucial to select parts of the river that are safe and recommended for tubing. Avoid areas intended for more extreme sports such as kayaking or sections with strong and dangerous currents.

Use of life jackets

A life jacket should always be worn while tubing.

This not only helps you stay afloat in the event of a fall, but also offers protection against impacts with submerged objects.
