This is a program to which individuals, families or unrelated people who live in the same household can apply.

How do food stamps work in North Carolina?

Despite its popular name, the truth is that the program is no longer managed through stamps but through electronic transfers.

La assistance Food is provided monthly through electronic benefit transfer (EBT). That way, it automatically enters the balance into the home's EBT account.

Households receive a card and can pay for purchases at grocery stores using the card in the same way they would use a debit card at the checkout. The cost of the purchase is then electronically deducted from the EBT account.
