The Prayer of the Magnificent is a prayer or hymn of praise that we originally know through the Bible. It is also known as Magnificat -in Latin-, also as “Song of Mary" or more colloquially as: "The Magnificent."
The “Song of Mary” comes to us through the Gospel of Saint Luke; when the Virgin Mary visits Elizabeth once, through the Archangel Gabriel, Mary finds out that she will be the mother of Jesus:

In those days, when Mary got up, she went with haste to the mountain, to a city of Judah; and he entered the house of Zacharias, and greeted Elisabet. And it happened that when Elisabet heard Mary's greeting, the child leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost, and exclaimed with a loud voice, and said: Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord come to me? For as soon as the voice of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped for joy in my womb. And blessed is she who believed, because what was told to her from the Lord will be fulfilled.
Mary's response to Elizabeth is what we currently know as the Prayer to the Magnificent, or simply “Magnificat.”
What do you pray for?
The Magnificent is frequently prayed as a prayer for divine protection. It is identified as powerful to ask for protection, security and protection against evils, dangers or difficult times that one is going through.
Like the Prayer to Saint Jude Thaddeus, it is also frequently prayed to ask for difficult and urgent cases to resolve.
When is the Magnificent Prayer prayed?
The truth is that there is no rule for this.
Like most prayers, you can do it at any time of the day when you feel the need for a spiritual connection, or when you have a need for which you feel that a little divine help could be helpful. Or, you can simply pray it as a token of gratitude to the divine.
You can pray it as a prayer in the morning, during the afternoon or before going to sleep. Or, at any time of the day when you want or feel the need for a spiritual connection.
It can also be an activity to do with family, friends or co-workers during a break.

Prayer of the Magnificent : two different versions
As is often the case with some prayers, the Magnificat has been modified over time to adapt to the needs of the faithful devotees and the communities that pray it.
These are the two prayers of the magnificent, which are equally powerful among the faithful devotees and you can use either one or the other, with which you feel more identified.
Remember that before starting it is recommended that you take a minute or two to close your eyes and breathe deeply, this will help you focus and put all your attention on the prayer and what you are going to offer, thank or ask for.
Prayer of the Magnificent
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, because he has seen the humiliation of his slave.
From now on, all generations will congratulate me because the Mighty One has done great works for me. His name is Holy and his mercy reaches his faithful from generation to generation.
He works mightily with his arm, scatters the proud in heart. He overthrows the mighty and exalts the lowly. He fills the hungry with good things and the rich he dismisses empty.
He helps his servant Israel, remembering his holy covenant as he had promised our fathers in favor of Abraham and his descendants forever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, now and forever and ever.
Amen.

It's prayer as it appears in the Bible. You can start by reading the gospel part carefully or make the prayer short and go directly to the prayer.
Then Mary said:
My soul magnifies the Lord;
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
Because he has seen the lowliness of his servant;
For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed.
Because the Mighty One has done great things for me;
Holy is his name,
And his mercy is from generation to generation
To those who fear him.
He did exploits with his arm;
He scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
He removed the mighty from their thrones,
And exalted the humble.

In short, the Magnificat prayer has two versions: the original, taken straight from the Bible, and a more modern version. It can be prayed, recited, or even sung at any time of day you choose. It's a prayer you can say to consecrate yourself to Mary, to give thanks, or to ask God and the Virgin for a very special favor or protection during the difficult—but temporary—situations that life presents us with.
