Enlace Latino NC  identified four  clinics and programs that offer affordable medical care for farm workers in Sampson County. These clinics are part of the North Carolina Farmworker Health Program (NCFHP), which provides support to commuting farmworkers or those who work in agriculture. seasonally.

Enlace Latino NC  He verified the NCFHP state directory information to determine which clinics have specific services for farmworkers, such as mobile care, support for the uninsured, and bilingual staff.

For farmworkers in Sampson County, these are:

  1. Community Health 
  2. NC Farmworkers Project 
  3. Black River Health Services/Manos Unidas 
  4. Goshen Medical Center .

Community Health  – Newton Grove

Located in 1508 Maple Grove Church Road, Dunn, NC 28334,  CommWell Health is a community health center (FQHC) that provides medical, dental, and behavioral health care for farm workers.

Its services include primary care, dental healthThe center offers services including mental health, pediatrics, pharmacy, laboratory, X-ray, chronic disease management, and nutrition/WIC. It has bilingual materials and forms and provides care in multiple languages, including Spanish.

CommWell Health serves patients regardless of their ability to pay and uses a sliding fee scale for uninsured or low-income individuals. It also provides support services, such as assistance accessing care, appointment scheduling, and general guidance.

NC Farmworkers Project  – Dunn

The NC Farmworkers Project provides medical assistance to farmworkers in most of Sampson, Harnett, and Johnston counties.

Their office is located in 200 S King Ave, Dunn, NC 28334,  But his team is dedicated to visiting farmworkers where they live to assess their needs, offer health education, share resources, and coordinate medical care.

Their health program works with several partners to offer expanded services, including mobile clinics and after-hours care.

Current collaborations include:

  • Benson Health:  Thursday evening clinics specifically targeting agricultural workers.
  • Campbell University Community Care Clinic:  Two free night clinics per week, with the option of telehealth when weather or student schedules require it.
  • Duke University Psychiatry Residency Program:  Two bilingual residents available for evening telehealth appointments.
  • Carlie C's Pharmacy (Benson):  Facilitates access to affordable medicines through program 340B.
  • Faculty of Dentistry of ECU:  Dental care through its Community Service Learning Center in Lillington.
  • The Future:  Behavioral health services during nighttime hours.
  • Alice Aycock Poe Health Education Center:  Nutritional education and free cooking classes for patients.

Black River Health Services/Manos Unidas  – Atkinson

United hands It is a non-profit organization dedicated to outreach and community engagement with farmworkers. In partnership with Black River Health Services in Atkinson, it provides general medical services for farmworkers.

The program operates in two locations:

  • Black River Health Center at Atkinson , 109 West Church Street, Atkinson, NC 28425
  • Manos Unidas Atkinson , 126 West Main St., Atkinson, NC 28425.

Services include:

  • Individual health assessments and referrals.
  • Coordination of care for low-cost medical services.
  • Home visits for initial registration and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Education for health.
  • Mobile clinic in agricultural worker camps.
  • Discounted dental and optometry services.
  • Interpretation for specialist care appointments.
  • Diabetes management classes in Spanish.
  • Disaster preparedness and response.

Goshen Medical Center  – Faison

Goshen Medical Center is a private, non-profit organization and a federally qualified community and migrant health center.

His clinic in Faison, located in 444 Southwest Center Street, Faison, NC 28341 It offers remote and in-person interpretation, as well as free language services.

Services include family medicine, internal medicine, laboratory testing, and on-site X-rays. As a qualified migrant care center, it also provides support to farmworkers and has mobile clinics  that provide services directly to the camps.
