North Carolina, Raleigh – The United States Embassy and consulates in Mexico have resumed processing of the tourist-nonimmigrant visa for the United States of America.
Applicants should be aware that the waiting time is longer than normal for this service and therefore it is important to plan this procedure.

For example, currently for Mexico City the waiting time for a tourist visa appointment is 581 business days, that is, about two years.
What is needed to process a tourist visa for the United States?
A Mexican person who wishes to travel to the United States for tourism, whether for a short vacation, visiting family and friends, or to receive medical treatment, needs a visitor visa (B2).
To process the tourist visa for the United States, follow these steps:
1. Fill the Form DS-160. To do so, you need your valid passport and proof of address (to put your exact address).
Here You can find help on how to do it. Print the confirmation page of the application form because you will use it for your appointment at the Applicant Service Center (CAS) and your interview.
2. You will need to create an account at the site of the Official Service of the Visa Information and Appointment System. There you can track the steps and requirements you are missing. In addition, you will find the instructions to make the visa payment.
3. Pay the visa application fee non-refundable, yes, you must pay it before the interview. Currently the payment is 160 dollars. Children under 15 years old pay 15 dollars.
4. When the payment is registered in the system, (you will receive a confirmation email) you can now make an appointment for the CAS, where your fingerprints and photographs will be taken. You must bring your passport, as well as the DS-160 application confirmation, proof of payment and the printed appointment confirmation sheet.
Arrive on time or preferably 15 minutes before your appointment and your interview appointment will be confirmed that day.

5.Go to your interview . You will only have to bring your printed DS-160 form and your valid Mexican passport. Also have your appointment confirmation sheet printed with instructions and proof of payment receipt.
Remember, it is prohibited to enter United States embassies and consulates with your cell phone on, nor can you enter with any other electronic device.
A consular officer will interview you to determine if you are qualified to receive a visitor visa. You must demonstrate that you meet the requirements under US law to receive a visa. He will determine whether your visa is approved or rejected. He will also give you instructions on when and how to pick it up.
6. Pick up your visa at the parcel delivery service. There is no exact delivery date, although it may take 3 to 4 weeks after the interview to arrive. When the Consular Section has the document ready and delivers it to the DHL courier service, the applicant will be notified by email and will be provided with the shipping number so they can pick it up.
