There is no set time for Vote in person in North Carolina, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

The duration of the process depends on factors such as the number of people in line, the polling place and the time each person needs to complete their ballot.

Therefore, those planning to vote in person should set aside enough time to wait and complete the process without rushing.

The voting process

The process begins when the voter arrives at the polling stationThere, election workers verify their registration and request a Photo identification acceptable.

After completing that process, the voter receives their ballot and proceeds to a private area to mark their selections. Finally, they must submit or insert the ballot following the instructions at the polling place.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections does not establish an average time that voters should expect to wait or how long it will take to complete these steps.

Rows may vary

Wait times may vary throughout the day and from polling station to polling station.

The lines can also be longer depending on the number of people who come to vote at the same time.

Situations that may take longer

The process may be extended if any problems arise with the voter registration.

For example, if the name does not appear on the list or there is a doubt about eligibility, the voter may have to complete additional steps or request a provisional ticket.

It may also take longer if a person needs assistance to vote or has difficulty using the voting equipment.

In these cases, voters should ask for help from an election worker before leaving the center.
