Updated June 2025 .- The United States celebrates Father's Day or Dad's Day, next Sunday, June 15, 2025. In the northern country, dads are traditionally celebrated on the third Sunday of the sixth month of each year, that is, the third Sunday of June.
Many Latin American countries also celebrate Father's Day on the third Sunday of June. These include Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.
But not all.
Father's Day in Latin America
In Guatemala and El Salvador Father's Day is celebrated on June 17. In Honduras is celebrated on March 19, which coincides with the St. Joseph's Day, husband of the Virgin Mary and custodian of the Church.
Nicaragua celebrates on June 23 of each year and the Dominican Republic on the last Sunday of July.
This year, Father's Day in Argentina falls on a long weekend and will celebrate fathers on Sunday, June 2025th. This will coincide with the celebrations for the anniversary of the death of Martín Miguel de Güemes, so fathers and families in the southern country can enjoy a long weekend.
Europe

In Japan, dad is also celebrated on the third Sunday in June. The Japanese know this day as Chichi no hi, is written 父の日 (read “chichi no hi“) since ちち (“chichi“) means father.
In China it is not as popular a celebration as in other parts of the world. It is celebrated on August 8 and is known as bā bā, is written 爸爸, which can be translated as “dad”.

For example, Father's Day in Mexico is not considered an official holiday, however, it is customary for offices and businesses to give the day off to those who require it to celebrate it.
For the United States it is not part of the calendar of official non-working days.
In El Salvador, one of the few countries in the world that celebrates a fixed day, it is a day of paid national holiday.
In Spain, Father's Day is considered a "substitutable holiday," meaning each autonomous community decides whether or not to make it an official holiday.
