North Carolina, Raleigh- During the next Parliamentary election, candidates for the North Carolina House of Representatives will compete for seats that could define the future of all state laws for the next two years.
If the Republican Party obtains 72 or more seats, it will not only have the power to pass laws without the support of members of the Democratic Party, as is currently the case, but it would also have enough votes to override the governor's vetoes. That is, they would have total control of this House.

In this context, two Latino candidates for the North Carolina House of Representatives participated in non-partisan electoral forums organized by Enlace Latino NC y The Hispanic Center and spoke with members of the Latino community.
These are Ricky Hurtado, who will seek re-election as representative for District 63, and Carla Catalan Day, who aspires to occupy a seat for District 74.
Both candidates for the North Carolina House of Representatives are from the Democratic Party. It should be noted that the invitation was also made to the Republican candidates who will face them in November, but they did not respond.
The nominations of both candidates may go down in history. If elected, Catalan Day will be the first Latina woman to occupy a seat in this legislative body. In the case of candidate Ricky Hurtado, the only Latino so far would achieve his second term as representative.
