North Carolina, Raleigh- This year they will celebrate municipal elections in North Carolina and authorities will require the presentation of certain accepted identification in order to vote.
This is what was arranged by the State Supreme Court, in a decision that implies an important novelty. For the first time since 2018, voters will be required to display a identification that includes a photograph.
This year, those responsible for the elections will check whether the photograph on the identification bears an adequate similarity to that of the voter. They will also check to see if the name on the ID matches or bears a strong resemblance to the voter's registered name.
The new requirement changes the accepted identifications with respect to previous elections. And it applies to both in-person voting on Election Day, early voting, and voting by mail.
