The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) offers mobile crisis response services in several counties, including Chatham. The program provides short-term response, stabilization, and intervention for adults and children with intellectual or developmental disabilities experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis.
The team consists of one or two counselors who can meet with the person at their home, school, or another safe location. If you don't speak English, you can request an interpreter.
Remember: There is a two-hour window to visit the person in crisis. However, this does not mean it will take that long. Ask the counselor if they have an estimated time of arrival (ETA).

Through the program, they are provided with up to eight weeks of follow-up services by a team consisting of a licensed physician, a team leader, a family support partner, and access to a child/adolescent psychiatrist as needed.
