Regarding Representative Brian Echevarria

Echevarría was born in Miami, Florida, into a multicultural family shaped by immigration, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the opportunities offered by the United States. Her paternal grandparents came from Cuba, and her mother is of Bahamian descent.

She grew up in a home where Hispanic culture, language, family, and entrepreneurship were integral to daily life. She explained that this experience influenced her understanding of the role of immigrant families like her own and their significant contribution to American history.

He also noted that his experience gave him firsthand knowledge of the needs of families, workers, and small businesses, who, he said, need stability, accountability, and opportunities. This, he added, also shaped his vision of public service, which should be based on listening, seeking practical solutions, and working to secure the future.

Below are the complete questions and answers from the questionnaire conducted by Enlace Latino NC

Why did you decide to apply for this position, and what are the main experiences or qualities that you believe prepare you to perform it?

I decided to run for public office to help shape the world our children will inherit. My experience as a business owner and consultant prepared me to approach public service with discipline, accountability, and an understanding of how decisions made in Raleigh affect households and employers throughout North Carolina.

I come from a biracial, bilingual, and multicultural family, and that background helps me listen respectfully to people from different walks of life and understand that skin color doesn't determine one's mindset. I believe voters respond to clear ideas, shared values, and a sincere commitment to representing them well.

What do you consider to be the three main issues or challenges that you will have to address in this position and why?

Many Hispanic families understand firsthand that socialist and communist policies diminish public safety and restrict the freedoms necessary for success. It is clear that the Democratic Party, by adopting these philosophies, has fallen prey to the illusion of socialism and communism.

That said, three main issues that I believe require sustained attention are economic opportunity, affordability, and public trust in government.

First, families and small businesses need policies that make it easier for them to work, invest, grow, and provide the life they envision for themselves and their loved ones. The government should remove unnecessary barriers and create conditions that enable people to succeed.

Second, government spending causes inflation, and taking money away from families that they could spend on themselves makes life less affordable. Controlling our property taxes to protect homeowners, renters, and business owners is a priority.

Third, public trust is essential because government decisions have a significant impact on people's lives. We need to be able to trust that our elected officials are committed to providing opportunities for prosperity, security, and freedom. Addressing these challenges requires practical leadership, respect, and a focus on shared values.

If elected, what do you hope to achieve during your term in office and how would you evaluate whether your administration was successful?

If I am re-elected, I hope to help build a North Carolina where families have greater opportunities, children can aspire to a promising future, and we work toward a future we can look forward to.

Success would mean promoting legislation that supports families, strengthens the economy, and helps people achieve success to the best of their abilities.

My election represents a significant shift in the political landscape of North Carolina, demonstrating that Hispanic and multicultural communities play a role in public leadership. It also demonstrates that our faith and conservative values are accepted by a political party that welcomes us without demanding we abandon our beliefs.

However, representation must be more than symbolic. It must translate into service, responsiveness, and policies based on the needs of the royal families. My term is successful if people know that I represented them with honesty, accessibility, and results.

The Latino population continues to grow in North Carolina. Given the specific responsibilities of the position you are seeking, how do you plan to address the needs and concerns of Latino communities, including those facing language barriers or limited access to public institutions?

Who I am gives me a personal understanding of bilingual and multicultural communities.

As part of my responsibilities in this role, I listen to residents, community organizations, small business owners, parents, and religious leaders to better understand what is important to them. I also support clear communication from government agencies and promote practical access to information so that residents know where to go for help.

Responding appropriately to Hispanic communities means recognizing their traditions and what is important to them. It also means focusing on priorities such as safe communities, strong schools, good jobs, and a government that treats every resident with respect.
