The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) partnered with “Somethings,” a digital platform that offers free support in mental health for teenagers in all 100 counties of the state, regardless of whether they have health insurance.

What is the “Somethings” app?

Somethings is an app designed for young people aged 13 to 19 that offers a new kind of free mental health support, focused on helping teenagers build genuine human connections and find someone to talk to.

This support does not replace the EMDRRather, Somethings functions as a platform that connects young people with “Certified Peer Specialist Mentors,” or certified peer mentors: trained young people who have gone through similar experiences such as anxiety, depression, social isolation, school stress, or family problems.

These mentors, who are between 20 and 30 years old, also have the support and supervision of licensed clinical professionals.
