The YWCA High Point has opened registration for the second edition of Together for Change: A Young Professionals Civic Engagement Cohort, a seven-week program aimed primarily at young professionals under 30 interested in learning more about civic engagement. civic participation and community.
The initiative seeks to bring participants closer to different decision-making spaces and help them understand how they can get involved in issues that affect their communities. from the government, municipal and county levels, up to the state and federal levels.
From the September 10
The sessions will be held on Thursdays, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, beginning September 10. During the program, participants will have the opportunity to explore topics related to advocacy, governance, nonprofit organizations, boards of directors, and other forms of community engagement.
The program will begin on September 10th with an orientation and introduction to advocacy or advocacyOn September 17, participants will attend the candidates' forum organized by the YWCA.
The sessions on September 24 and October 1 will be dedicated to the workings of municipal government. After a break during the week of October 8, the program will resume on October 15 with a session on county-level participation.
On October 22, the group will explore opportunities for engagement with state and federal governments. The final session, scheduled for October 29, will address the role of nonprofit organizations and boards of directors, as well as help participants identify ways to remain involved after the program ends.
During the break week, participants will also be invited to attend a Dance Night on October 9th, as an opportunity for socializing and networking.
The YWCA High Point reported that it will provide food during the sessions and that there will be additional incentives for those who complete the program.
