Although in the United States Mother's Day falls on second Sunday of MayIn countries like Mexico, Argentina, and Bolivia, the date to celebrate "mothers" is not the same. Therefore, and so you don't miss the date, we've prepared a table with the updated dates so you know when Mother's Day falls in 2025 in the Americas and so you can celebrate Mom on the right day, wherever you are.

Why does the date change depending on the country?

The dates for celebrating Mother's Day vary depending on each country's culture, history, religion, or even whether it coincides with national holidays.

For example, in Paraguay, mothers are celebrated along with their independence day, while in Panama the date is linked to religion, and they celebrate it on “Immaculate Conception Day.”

Countries such as the United States, Brazil, and Colombia follow the fixed-date model, celebrating mothers on the second Sunday of May every year. Others, such as Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala, they celebrate it on the same day every year.

Latina Mothers in the United States: Two Celebrations

In some Latino and Hispanic homes in the United States, such as in North Carolina, Mother's Day is celebrated twice: on May 10 to honor the traditions of the country of origin, as is the case in Mexico, and on the second Sunday of May, as is the custom in the U.S. It is worth mentioning that "Mothers Day" is not one of the national holidays of the North American country which are non-working days.

This double Mother's Day celebration demonstrates how Latino and Hispanic families combine their cultural roots with their current lives in the United States.
