Four candidates advanced after the March 3th primary elections for the “at-large” positions on the Raleigh City Council, according to preliminary results from the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE), for its acronym in English)
Incumbent Stormie Denise Forte leads with 32.73% of the vote, followed by Sana Sidiqqui Clark Rinehart received 23.57%, followed by Joshua Bradley with 12,13% and James G. Bledsoe with 11.86%. James G. Bledsoe and Cameron Zamot also competed. The results have yet to be officially certified.
"At-large" positions represent the entire city, and Raleigh voters can freely choose among all candidates in this race.
The winners will advance to the November general election, where two seats on the City Council will be decided.
Also at stake in that election is a seat for District C, which is voted on only by residents of that district.

Meanwhile, in District C, where only district residents vote, incumbent councilman Corey Branch won decisively with 54.07% of the vote. He was followed by Jared S. Ollison with 18.67%. Both advance to the general election in November.
Diana Angie Powell was very close to Ollison with 17.85% of the votes and Tolulope O. Omokaiye came in fourth place with 9.40%.

What does the Raleigh City Council do?
The Raleigh City Council is the legislative body of North Carolina's capital, responsible for approving local ordinances, budgets, and policies.
It is made up of eight members, including the mayorFive of them are elected by specific districts and three are elected "at-large", including the mayor.
The council operates under a system of government in which elected members set public policies, approve ordinances, and adopt the annual budget.
They also select a city manager, who is in charge of the daily administration of the city and implementing the council's decisions.
